Moments of Movement was originally released in 1992 as dBut Recordings 004 / ThB nett 007, a limited edition double cassette compiled and edited by ThB22 aka Tore Honoré Bøe. This reissue features all the material on the first tape, except for an interview recorded for Radio Nova, Oslo in 1991. The second tape included more from the same interview plus previously unreleased live recordings from Bergen, Flekkefjord, Kristiansand and Oslo, 1987-1990. These were mostly recorded on Walkman, and the sound quality was deemed too inferior for them to be released on vinyl.

“MUNCH came from my hometown Kristiansand and became crucial to my life-long interest in inbetweener arts and Do-It-Yourself culture. I was a drummer in the psychobilly band AVE!. We shared stages a few times and published records on the T23 label.

I was stalking MUNCH, crashing their Christmas eve parties at T23. Surprisingly I was still receiving live recordings and videos directly from them. Even two vinyl test pressings that I years later passed on for free to a new fan, to fight collector capitalism. And I got to see them live several times under quite different circumstances.

dBUT Records & Distribution Network was started by Per Platou and Runar Hodne in Oslo. And I snuck in. We released albums, imported and distributed audio and arty otherness through our shop and extensive mail order catalogues. Organised concerts and exhibitions.

ThB nett was my zoopercommercial “sublabel” later expanding into the whatnot Origami Republika network.

dBUT organised MUNCH’s final concert at Rockefeller and distributed the following live album. The entire contract went as this: “You get some records from us, and we get some money from you”.

I had compiled my favourite versions from the unpublished material for myself. And put a whole lot of work into it. But realising the importance of this document I started thinking it should be shared. With no other ambition than in compact cassette format.

Fun fact: The band MUNCH became such a legend that a Norwegian painter stole their name and even made a sort of career out of it.”
